Artificial Intelligence is already writing software. Developers use it to generate code, fix bugs, and build applications in a fraction of the time it once took.

But there's a catch.

Most AI coding assistants only understand the specific code they're looking at — not the millions of lines of software, documentation, and company knowledge that make up a large organization's technology stack.

That's the problem Bito is trying to solve.

This startup has built what it calls an intelligence layer for AI software development. Instead of competing with coding assistants like Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code, Bito works behind the scenes, giving those tools the context they need to understand an entire software system rather than just individual files.

Bito has raised more than ten million dollars from venture firms including Eniac Ventures, NextView Ventures, Vela Partners, and NGP Capital. The company has also begun generating recurring revenue and says it's working with several Fortune 50 companies as it expands its enterprise customer base.

Bito's platform continuously analyzes a company's software ecosystem. It doesn't just read source code — it also connects documentation, architecture diagrams, and historical development decisions into a single knowledge graph.

When an AI coding assistant is asked to write or modify software, it can tap into that knowledge graph to better understand how the entire system fits together. The goal is to reduce coding mistakes, improve accuracy, and allow AI to handle larger, more complex engineering projects.

Importantly, Bito isn't asking companies to replace the AI tools they already use. Instead, it integrates with existing coding assistants and helps them perform better. That means Bito can potentially benefit regardless of which AI coding platform ultimately becomes the industry leader.

The company is initially focused on large enterprises, where software systems often contain millions of lines of code spread across hundreds of applications. These organizations stand to benefit the most from giving AI additional context before it writes code. Customers already include companies such as PubMatic, Gainsight, Contentful, Swiggy, and Lenskart.

AI-assisted software development is one of the fastest-growing areas of enterprise technology, and demand is expected to rise as more organizations adopt AI throughout the software-development process. Rather than building another coding assistant, Bito is positioning itself as the infrastructure that helps all of them become smarter.

Bito generates revenue through enterprise software subscriptions. Customers pay based on the size of their codebase and how extensively they use the platform, giving the company a recurring revenue model that can grow alongside customer adoption.
